In Vitro Fertilization, IVF

For IVF, eggs are harvested from the ovary and taken to the lab where they are fertilized with spermatozoa. Once fertilized they are introduced back to the uterus to continue its development to term.

ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION

In artificial insemination, spermatozoa previously treated in the lab to enhance motility and fertilization potencial, are placed inside the woman´s uterus to facilitate their meeting with the oocyte. It is a less complex technic than IVF but also less effective. It can only be used if the Fallopian tubes are not obstructed.
